Meta Ads or Google Ads: which should a clinic or salon start with?

Which one to start with, what each does best, and when to run both.

Meta Ads or Google Ads?

Short answer: if people already search for what you offer ("skin clinic near me", "nail salon Dubai Marina"), start with Google Ads, because your ad can appear at the moment they search. If people don't search for it yet, or it sells on looks (a new treatment, a hair transformation, a seasonal offer), start with Meta Ads on Instagram and Facebook, because you can put it in front of the right local audience before they think to search. Many clinics and salons end up running both, with each doing a different job.

What Google Ads does best: catch people who are already looking

Google Search ads show near the search results when someone searches with words related to the keywords you choose. That makes them strong for high-intent searches: a person who types "laser hair removal clinic open now" is close to booking.

Google Ads also lets you add business details such as your phone number and location to your ads, so someone can call or find you in one tap.

Google Ads usually fits best when:

  • people already search for your treatment or service by name
  • you want calls and bookings from people nearby, today
  • you have clear service pages people can land on

What Meta Ads does best: create demand people didn't search for

Meta Ads run across Meta's apps, including Facebook and Instagram. Instead of waiting for a search, you choose who sees the ad, for example people in your area.

That suits businesses that sell visually and through offers: a salon's new colour service, a clinic's consultation week, or a treatment people haven't heard of yet. Results often come as messages, WhatsApp chats and bookings from people who saw the ad and were tempted.

Meta Ads usually fits best when:

  • the service is easy to show in a photo or short video
  • you want to fill quiet days or launch something new
  • most of your bookings start in DMs or on WhatsApp

A simple way to decide

Ask one question: do people already search for what I'm selling?

  • Yes, a lot: start with Google Ads and capture that demand first.
  • Not really: start with Meta Ads and build demand.
  • Both: split the budget, then move money towards whichever one brings more calls, chats and bookings, not more clicks.

Our view is that the right answer depends on your treatments, your area and your offer, so it's worth checking before you spend. Whichever you choose, track real results (calls, forms, WhatsApp chats and bookings) from day one, so you know which channel is working.
